First Dog Pool Party Tips

Whether you’re a first-time dog pool party planner or a seasoned pro, these tips can help you make sure that your furry friends have a safe and enjoyable time. From choosing the right pool to deciding on decorations, we’ll cover all the basics and more to help you create the perfect pool party for your pup!

First, make sure your pup is comfortable in the water. If they’re not used to swimming, get them used to the water gradually by introducing them to shallow pools or wading pools. Once they’re comfortable in the water, they’ll be ready for a pool party!

Second, make sure the pool is safe for your pup. Make sure the pool has a shallow end, and a ramp or steps for your pup to get in and out safely. Make sure the water is clean and free of any chemicals or debris.

If you are using an in ground people pool for your party, I highly recommend a ramp, especially if other dogs are coming. A senior and/or shy dog will really appreciate this!

Third, invite some friends and their pups to join in the fun! This way, your pup can swim and play with their friends in a safe and fun environment. Be sure to include neighbor pups (always invite the neighbors 😉 dogs from daycare and the park and any family members who will love you even more.

I personally prefer having invitations with envelopes so I can keep them handy for folks I know but do not know their mobile phone numbers. Otherwise, snapping a photo of the actual invite and texting it will also work well!

Fourth, provide plenty of toys and treats. This will help keep your pup entertained and give them something to look forward to in the pool.

I love the idea of having a doggy spread for treats too. This can be scooped right onto the toys, or if you have KONG toys, right inside.

Fifth, keep an eye on your pup at all times. You don’t want them to end up in the deep end and start to panic.

Finally, have fun! Dog pool parties are a great way to spend a summer day with your pup. With these tips, your pup’s pool party will be a fun and safe experience for everyone.

Create a guest list of furry friends and their humans. You can include friends, family, and even your pup’s doggie daycare pals!

Venue

Choose a venue that’s perfect for a pool party! Consider the size of your guest list and find a spot that’s big enough to accommodate everyone.

Since it will probably be outdoors, getting one big package of supplies can be easiest!

Theme

You might want a theme for your dog’s pool party. A pool party is already a theme, so that is more than enough but if you want to go further with it, here are some ideas!

  • Beach Bash – dress up your pup in their favorite beachwear and decorate the pool area with beach-themed decorations!

Dog Pool Party Safety Tips

Dog pool parties are a great way to give your pup some summer fun! Here are some tips to make sure your pup’s pool party is a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Hosting a pool party for your dog can be a fun and exciting way to spend an afternoon with your furry friend. However, safety must be top of mind when hosting a pool party. Here are some tips to help keep your dog and all other dogs safe while having a fun time in the pool:

  • Provide a ramp or other means of entry and exit for the pool. Dogs should never be forced to jump into or out of the pool.
  • Always supervise your dog when they are in the pool. This is especially important for younger or less confident dogs.
  • Never allow unsupervised access to the pool. Even if your dog knows how to swim, they should never be allowed to swim without someone watching them.
  • Make sure the pool is clean and free of debris before allowing your dog to enter.
  • Ensure that the pool has a skimmer net to remove dirt and other debris in the water.
  • Ensure that the pool is the correct temperature for your dog. Overly cold or hot water can be dangerous for your dog.
  • Provide plenty of fresh, clean water for your dog to drink.
  • Have a designated area for towels and other items so that your dog doesn’t slip and slide on wet surfaces.
  • Make sure that all toys and equipment used in the pool are safe for your dog.
  • Provide plenty of shade and breaks for your dog throughout the pool party.

By following these tips, you can ensure that your dog and all other dogs have a fun and safe experience while enjoying a pool party!
