As someone who loves a good smelling home, I’m always on the lookout for affordable ways that actually work to make my apartment smell incredible. This post is all about how to make your litter box and cat room smell unbelievably good.

As a cat owner, one of my biggest concerns is keeping the litter box and cat room odor-free. After trying many different products, I’ve found a combination of items that has worked wonders for me.

I use unscented litter and I think it is so much better than any fragrance litter. Unscented absorbs the cat urine really well and leaves the air smelling neutral, not flowery. Many cats prefer unscented. If your cat is having issues with the litter box and you have already tried several things; switch to unscented if you have not already.

Germ Guardian Air Purifier

Firstly, I invested in an air purifier.

These little machines are designed to remove particles from the air and are great for removing pet hair and dander, which can contribute to unpleasant odors. I noticed an immediate difference in the air quality in my apartment after using one.

Not to mention, a good air purifier will definitely help allergy sufferers!

There are a lot of air purifiers to choose from and many are very good!

This is the exact one I got (I have tried several) and it worked great. Out of several I have tried, this is my favorite to date.

This air purifier is a great addition to any medium to large sized room. It circulates the air up to 4.8 times per hour and features a True HEPA filter that reduces up to 99.97% of airborne allergens and germs. Additionally, it has a UV-C light that reduces airborne viruses, and an activated charcoal filter that helps reduce unwanted odors. The pre-filter also traps dust and pet hair, extending the life of the HEPA filter. It operates quietly and is certified zero ozone. Overall, this air purifier is a great solution for keeping your home smelling fresh and clean, especially if you have pets.

Roxy and Rocco

Next, I discovered Roxy and Rocco pet cleaner. It’s a natural, bio-enzymatic cleaner that works to break down the molecules that cause odors. I use it to clean the litter box, the scoop and any other areas where my cats spend a lot of time. It’s safe to use around pets and humans and has a pleasant, fresh scent.

I have written about this product before and you can read all about it here: The Right Way To Keep A Cat’s Litter Box Clean

Lysol

Finally, I use Lysol disinfectant spray to freshen up the air. I spray around the litter box area and any other areas where odors tend to linger. It’s important to note that it’s best to use this product when your pets are not in the room to avoid any potential respiratory issues.

I only like to use the fresh linen scent or the lemon. I find the other fragrances too much like medicine or disinfectant.

Candles

My last tip is to use a candle, but obviously there are so many to choose from. If your cat will be anywhere near the candle, use SOY.

These products have made a huge difference in keeping my apartment smelling fresh and clean, even with two cats in the house (now one).

And the best part is that they are all affordable and easily accessible. I highly recommend giving them a try if you’re looking for a way to combat pet odors in your home. You can find them all on Amazon and start enjoying a better smelling home today!
